Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

In recent years, the faculty offers teaching oriented around the latest findings which, in addition to traditional teaching in the lecture theatre (both with boards and modern media), uses modern teaching concepts like inverted classrooms or e-Learning.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

In recent years, the faculty offers teaching oriented around the latest findings which, in addition to traditional teaching in the lecture theatre (both with boards and modern media), uses modern teaching concepts like inverted classrooms or e-Learning.

Special features regarding the international orientation

In recent years, the faculty has a high percentage of international academic teaching staff and students. Parts of the lectures and the entire Master's degree course in Water Science are taught in English. International experts who are guests of the university regularly offer additional seminars and lectures, especially for advanced Master's students and doctoral candidates (e.g. as part of the annual Werdelmann Lecture).

Special features regarding the equipment

The laboratories have all been completely renovated and newly equipped within the last 10 years as part of new construction measures and core refurbishment of existing buildings. The equipment in the teaching laboratories is therefore modern and state-of-the-art.

Special features regarding research activities

The faculty is involved in other collaborative research areas: CRC TRR 270, CRC 1242 and CRC/TRR 247. The faculty plays an important role in three of five of the university's research focus areas, and several of the central academic research institutions are led by members of our faculty (e.g. Nanosciences, Water Research, and Biomedical Sciences Research).

Other special features

The faculty is an inter-disciplinary structure, the 27 professors represent a total of eight subjects. A broad range of topics can therefore be covered in research and teaching.
