Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Thanks to the comparatively small size of the seminar and practical groups, the Faculty of Chemistry can offer a very personal level of support, particularly in the Master's degree course. There are no waiting times for internships.

Thanks to the comparatively small size of the seminar and practical groups, the Faculty of Chemistry can offer a very personal level of support, particularly in the Master's degree course. There are no waiting times for internships.

Special features regarding the international orientation

There is a German-French study programme as part of the Bachelor's degree course. This is a double degree course in which both a German and a French bachelor's degree is obtained. The first half of the period of study is spent in Bielefeld, the second half in Paris. Stays abroad are encouraged.

The faculty has extensive state-of-the-art and well-maintained technical equipment, some of which is unique in Germany.

Special features regarding research activities

Research at the Faculty of Chemistry is mainly focused on fundamentals. The research activities carried out by the work groups can be assigned to the following areas: Molecular-Based Materials; Biochemistry, Bioorganics and Biocatalysis; Gas Phase Chemistry and Atmospheric Chemistry; Public Understanding of Science. However, there are also industry-related research projects and direct cooperations with local and international companies.
