Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The degree course is composed of modules from the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Biology. Therefore, students receive education and training in biochemistry not only with a focus on biology, but also deep insight into the chemical aspects of biochemistry. The high proportion of laboratory practicals in the degree course is also significant.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Students in this degree programme can carry out an internship abroad as well as a semester abroad with the Erasmus programmes of the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of Chemistry in other European countries.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Australien: Macquarie University; Indien: University of Pune; Irland: University College Dublin; Italien: Università degli Studi di Roma 'Tor Vergata'; Japan: Osaka University; Kanada: Université Laval; Kolumbien: Universidad Nacional de Colombia; Österreich: Universität Wien; Schweden: Stockholms universitet; Spanien: Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona

Special features regarding the equipment

Within the context of their specialisation, the students gain access to large-scale equipment, such as equipment for genome and transcriptome sequencing, proteome and metabolome analyses and structural elucidation of proteins.

Special features regarding research activities

The Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Natural Sciences is involved in the implementation of the degree programme as an associated institution. It is therefore possible to complete the specialisation internship and bachelor's thesis planned for the end of the degree programme there, e.g. on the topic of "signal transduction" or in "physical biochemistry".

Other special features

The University of Göttingen is particularly committed to sustainability as a challenge for society as a whole. Equal opportunity and diversity and its associated staff unit are equally important.
