Special features regarding teaching

Industrial Engineering degree course (HWI Hamburg) is academic and "cross-university" in nature. It uniquely combines the excellent economic expertise of university research with the outstanding practical networking of the engineering disciplines at the HAW HH and the HSU. Students experience these three different university cultures in their Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Due to the cross-university nature of the degree courses, students are offered twice the number of international contacts (partner universities and university collaborations) and can thus enhance their international skills.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Audencia Nantes - Ecole de Management; Lappeenrannan Teknillinen Yliopisto (University of Lappeenranta); Libera Università di Bolzano - Freie Universität Bozen; National Taiwan University Taipeh; Linköpings Universitet; Universiteit Hasselt; EM Strasbourg Business School; Toulouse School of Management; Kyoto University; CBS - Handelshøjskolen i København; Hogeschool Utrecht; Universität Turku; Michigan State University; Western Norway University of Applied Sciences

Special features regarding the equipment

HWI has access to the resources of the Business Administration department of UHH, Life Sciences at HAW and Mechanical Engineering at HSU. These include three libraries, three e-learning portals, computer rooms as well as labs, learning and seminar rooms at each location.

Special features regarding research activities

Research in the research focus areas is interdisciplinary, international and practice-oriented and deals with topics relevant to society and business.

Support for founders

TransferLab: Bringing together business founders, investors and other parties interested in starting a business; Bringing together skills and needs across faculty boundaries; Promotion of university-wide entrepreneurship courses; Promotion of transfer from research to industry and society

Other special features

The HWI (joint Industrial Engineering degree programme Hamburg) degree courses (BSc and MSc) are characterised by an extremely active student body. An association bundles all student activities: Sports events, mentoring and coaching programmes, organisation of the graduation ball, national and international professional associations and networks, alumni work and student management consultancy.
