Special features regarding teaching

Bachelor's degree course: Broad, cross-industry basic education in Engineering, Business Administration and Economics, exercises are a large component of the course, quantitative profile of Economics; Master's degree course: Three fields of study - Production and Processes, Energy and Raw Materials Management and Materials Technologies in Future-Oriented Fields. Dovetailing of Economics and Engineering content through interface subjects such as Project Management, Material Flow and Logistics, Operational Planning of Energy Systems or Energy Economics.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Around 50% of students and 20% of staff come from abroad. Collaborations in research, teaching and for the exchange of students and teaching staff exist with around 160 partner institutions. In various degree courses, double degrees with partner institutions are accredited. The International Centre is a central point of contact for international matters as well as for linguistic and intercultural competence. It supports teaching staff, researchers, students and non-teaching staff in the preparation, planning and execution of collaboration activities and stays abroad.

Lecture theatres are equipped with the latest technology. PC clusters, lively places of learning, as well as well-equipped university and institute libraries are available for student use. High level of IT infrastructure at the University and the student halls of residence. The technical institutes possess modern laboratories, work halls and extensive equipment including large-scale machinery.

Special features regarding research activities

Research at Clausthal University of Technology deals with technologies and methods for the sustainable management of the resources energy, material and information, taking up the concept of the circular economy. The competencies of Clausthal University of Technology are focused on the four research fields, which are closely interlinked. The institutes of the Faculty of Energy and Economics are particularly active in the fields of "Sustainable Energy Systems" and "Raw Material Security and Resource Efficiency".

The Start-up Service of Clausthal University of Technology advises and informs interested students and staff of Clausthal University of Technology on the topic of business start-ups and teaches innovation and start-up skills with a wide range of events. Whether it’s working on a business idea, drafting a business plan, providing information on funding opportunities and continuing education or finding suitable partners: The Start-up Service of Clausthal University of Technology provides support in all phases.

Other special features

A three-week orientation phase and preliminary Mathematics courses are offered. The interdisciplinary first-semester networking project helps to introduce students to the degree course. Due to the excellent staff-student ratio, close supervision is also offered during the course. In addition to integrated exercises, there are lecture-accompanying programmes such as online tutorials, correction of voluntary coursework and bonus programmes. Students benefit from their involvement in application-oriented research projects.
