Special features regarding teaching

Practically oriented teaching; Students are taught the scientific-technical basics and methods, key technical qualifications, application-specific system knowledge and non-subject-specific skills such as teamwork, verbal skills, presentation skills and project management. Blended-learning offers complete the seminar classes. Many modules includes additional optional courses. Industrial design and mechanical construction are mutually reinforcing.

The Hochschule Deggendorf THD cooperates with many partner universities worldwide. The following can therefore be completed abroad: Semester abroad, work placements, Bachelor's theses.

Special features regarding the equipment

The Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics faculty is equipped with numerous modern laboratories, which are used for teaching, practicals and project work and can also be used by students in their free time; this includes a modern production laboratory with industry 4.0 data networking and augmented reality technology, a robotics laboratory, various laboratories for materials testing and analysis, plastics technology laboratories, a forge, student project areas with equipment.

Special features regarding research and development

Students of the degree course in Mechanical Engineering can be involved in research projects/third-party-funded projects both as part of work placements/project work/Bachelor's theses or through cooperation with local industry.

Support for founders

Faculty professors are active in the ITC1 start-up centre, a number of schemes including the Silicon Valley programme support spin-offs.
