Further information provided by the department

Special features regarding teaching

The degree course teaches comprehensive professional skills for demanding tasks in software development. Lecture phases at the University and practical phases in cooperating companies change on a quarterly basis and enable students to contemplate and apply theoretical concepts. The practical experiences are discussed with selected lecturers and documented in several project assignments. Communication and presentation seminars and compulsory foreign language training ensure the required communication skills are achieved.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Candidates who are eligible for a doctorate abroad are spotted at an early stage among students in the Master's degree programme in Information Engineering. This can be done in particular through the close contacts to the Western Norway University of Applied Science. Further research contacts to universities abroad (Canada, England) offer similar opportunities.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

University of the West of Scotland, Paisley, UK; University of Coventry, UK; Université de Lille, France; Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Bergen, Norwegen.

Special features regarding the equipment

Every student receives a high-quality laptop with comprehensive software when they start their academic studies; additional software is available to download from the application server.

Other special features

Training in small groups (20 - 30 students) is an essential feature of the department, which leads to better individual support, intensive personal support and closer apprenticeship relationships.
