Support for founders

The Faculty of Computer Science is home to the business start-up department |HSA_funkenwerk - the start-up incubator for the Augsburg region. Since 2017, the team of 7 has been supporting business founders from the first idea through to a competitive business model. The services include start-up-related teaching and project formats, regular start-up consultation hours and an incubator programme. Numerous professors of the Faculty of Computer Science are involved in start-up promotion; since 2022, the faculty has had its own professorship for IT Entrepreneurship and IT Innovation Management. Since 2017, 13 out of 16 EXIST grants have come from the Faculty of Computer Science alone.

Other special features

The Faculty of Computer Science considers its main task to be the education of the students. Within this, the active and independent work of the students, in addition to the quality of teaching and the subject-specific qualifications, is at the foreground. The faculty supports high-quality teaching in all fields of Computer Science including related fields and strives to achieve the coexistence of practice-oriented teaching and applied practical research. For us, commitment to service learning is a matter of course, so that we can help students to grow into sought-after personalities.
