Broad range of specialisation options; a high relevance to practice is ensured through practical work in companies and labs; course content is incorporated from other disciplines, allowing interdisciplinary work even during the Bachelor's degree course; extensive opportunities for stays abroad; comprehensive mentoring programme, early academic studies and a diverse range of preliminary courses; active departmental student organisation (student representation), many study rooms in the "Masch.Bau" Mechanical Engineering student building; Extensive guidance; many student initiatives; teaching awards (LehrLeo); innovative teaching methods.

Special features regarding the international orientation

One in 3 students spends at least 1 semester or more abroad. Straightforward transfer of credits gained abroad in the case of approved study abroad. Many double degree programmes (universities of Compiègne, Rhode Island, Tongji) as well as a joint degree (joint degree course with our partner university in Vilnius).

Special features regarding the equipment

Numerous new research facilities (PVZ, NFF, NFL, BRICS, LENA, OHLF) with state-of-the-art equipment for research mean that current content can be taught. Flight simulators, 3D virtual reality lab, modern clean rooms, test vehicles; electron beam micro processing centre.
