Special features regarding teaching

Mixture of seminar-style lessons and practical courses, in which it is often possible to gain an insight into everyday working life in collaboration with institutions and a target group; Highly relevant research-based teaching and professional, project and skills-based teaching in which students are included in the research projects led by teachers; Several simulation game courses and simulations; Small exercise groups (if possible); Participation in the Quality Pact for Teaching; Didactics seminars for lecturers.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Faculty of Applied Social and Health Sciences is a member of the International Association of Schools of Social Work and/or its subdivision, the European Association of Schools of Social Work. Within these umbrella organisations, the teachers of the department can organise by specific countries or content interests, while organising themselves as part of a network. Guest lecturers from other countries are regularly invited with a focus on visiting professors.

Special features regarding the equipment

The lecture halls are equipped with current media; Students can borrow laptops for presentation purposes; There is a media lab and a work room. very well maintained equipment with various musical instruments and everything you need to stage a performance (lighting and sound systems, microphones, etc.); Provision of recording devices for interviews and devices for transcription (for students). In 2016 one of the seminar rooms was set up for Design Thinking. As part of the "BABS" degree course, a lecture hall has been equipped for video transmissions (to the learning locations).

Special features regarding research activities

The Faculty of Applied Social and Health Sciences has a long-standing research tradition in the field of social sciences, social work and now also the health sciences. There is the Research Centre for Applied Social and Health Sciences (ForsAS), an Institute of Social Research and Technology Assessment (IST) and the Regensburg Centre of Health Sciences and Technology (RCHST), which combines the expertise from medical technology, medical informatics, health and social sciences in research, development, teaching and continuing education.

Other special features

There are three undergraduate courses in social work at the faculty: "Social work", "Social work (part-time)" and "Music and movement-oriented social work". A consecutive Master "Inclusion and Exclusion" as well as a further education Master "Leadership and Communication Management" complete the offer. The area of Health Sciences was added in 2011 with the Bachelor courses "Nursing", "Physiotherapy", "Speech Therapy", "Midwifery", "Nursing Management" (part-time) and the Master "Advanced Nursing Practice (ANP)".
