Special features regarding teaching

The special feature of the course is our study model "The Core Principle" - Competence Oriented Research and Education ". This model focuses on active and independent learning. It combines skills, knowledge and a joy of learning. The success factors of the CORE principle are topic-centred five-week blocks, activating teaching / learning methods, competence-oriented types of examination, best employability, personal responsibility of the students, educational partnerships, innovation and research as well as the competence model.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Thomas More University (Geel/Belgien), FH St. Pölten (St. Pölten/Österreich), Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (Olten/Schweiz)

Special features regarding the equipment

Subject-specific databases such as SpringerLink, WISO, IBZ Online and more are accessible. There are also plenty of e-books for free use. Specific databases and programmes (SPSS) can be used for empirical work. In addition, several classrooms have been equipped with the technology for hybrid teaching-learning settings to enable participation and access for all students during the coronavirus pandemic. The technology is still used as part of a blended learning concept.

Special features regarding research activities

The Faculty of Social Work focuses its research in particular on sexual violence, social space orientation and student health. One prime example is the HUMAN project and the resulting project ByeDV on the topic of sexual violence. With the initiative "Students4Students", students of the Master's in Social Work advise and support other students on their worries and needs. The cross-faculty research project "Strengthening (Self) Motivation (Ability) as a Central Future Skill Using Digital Teaching-Learning Formats" is worthy of mention.

Other special features

It is possible for LGBTQI+ students to be registered under their chosen first name in the student administration without any official name change or bureaucratic red tape. In addition, we are part of the LGBTQI+ network Baden-Württemberg.
