Special features regarding research activities

The faculty finances extensive personal support for researchers and promotes various research topics across the full range of the faculty's disciplines. Six established research focus areas (Autonomy spaces in the welfare state, education spaces in childhood and the family, digital technologies and social services, media worlds, migration and intercultural competence, informal education) are structurally anchored here and are characterised both by extensive regional as well as national partnerships and collaborations with other universities and research institutions, as well as by their transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary focus and cooperation.

Other special features

Inclusion pursues the vision of social justice and aims to overcome barriers that cause disadvantage, exclusion and discrimination. The "Forum for Inclusive Education", a collaboration between the Integration Agency of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Bezirksverband Mittelrhein e.V. (Workers’ Welfare Association for the Central Rhine District) and the Institute of Childhood, Youth, Family and Adults (KJFE) of Cologne University of Applied Sciences, is an open series of events with changing lectures and workshops.
