The lecturers are committed to teaching technical and social skills to all students so that they can later tackle professional tasks in the international environment constructively, creatively and critically. The special character of our teaching concept provides a qualification for life-long learning. Teaching is also supported by subject-specific laboratories, which demonstrate practical scenarios.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The special features of the department in the area of international orientation are grounded in the wide range of international courses as well as in the combination of research and teaching with respect to internationalism. Students have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of cooperating universities abroad.

Special features regarding the equipment

The department has a modern learning and teaching environment that students can use flexibly. Current tools are used in courses and in the laboratories, so that students are familiar with the current state of the art and can apply them directly in practice.

Support for founders

The topic of entrepreneurship is firmly anchored in the Business Informatics curriculum and can also be further deepened individually by providing a wide range of election events. In addition, at Reutlingen University there are numerous offers and support options in the area of start-ups, which can be used by students in parallel with their studies.

Other special features

International exchange programmes and a doctoral programme at the Herman Hollerith Centre for Services Computing. The Herman Hollerith Centre (HHZ) is a cooperative teaching and research network, which was founded jointly by the Stuttgart University and HS Esslingen and which involves the IT research departments of the participating companies in the regions of Böblingen and Reutlingen.
