Special features regarding teaching

Lectures by visiting professors and managers from companies; international orientation; Each course comprises lectures and exercises; Screen/podcasts for many courses to encourage independent studying, as well as further information are available on the campus-wide learning platform; Discussion forums for all course participants; central independent learning environments such as the media workshop and an automated sound studio for training in public speaking; Various Summer School courses; Libraries open until midnight; optimal supervisory ratio thanks to the limited number of places available.

Special features regarding the international orientation

There are special exercises for international students (accounting, cost and performance accounting). These should also be taken by Business Informatics students (at least 3 Business Administration courses in the first phase of study). subject-specific student advice is available to international students.

Free software for students via Academic Alliances; WiFi in all parts of the buildings (even in the libraries); PC rooms (hardware is renewed approx. every three years) with interactive whiteboards; Central printing services in the computer centre; Projectors in all lecture theatres and seminar rooms; The chair has its own labs for students with specialist hardware and software (from the latest smartphones and tablets to high-performance computer systems and VR glasses), supervised by certified staff.

Special features regarding research activities

Business Informatics in Regensburg is one of the internationally leading research groups, working on the areas of IT Security, Internet Business, Business Engineering, Quality Management, etc.: publications for renowned journals and conferences; many research projects and third-party funding from DFG, EU, BMBF, Bavarian federal state ministries, etc.; many application-oriented research projects with well-known companies; many academic prizes and honours; alignment with many renowned conferences (e.g. ARES 2013, DEXA 2018); chair spin-offs; Associated institutes, such as "ibi research"

Support for founders

The faculty expressly encourages business start-ups, with professors acting as mentors for business founders. So far, there have been two start-ups: NEXIS and ibi Systems. There are also student management consultancies (e.g. InTouch), providing assistance with planned start-ups. In addition, Business Information Systems students are involved in spin-offs (e.g. enactus Regensburg).
