High degree of practical relevance, small groups, many IT-supported exercises, flexible teaching-learning models (including inverted classroom, problem-based learning, project studies), strong use of e-learning tools and online interaction with lecturers and fellow students (based on Moodle and own video platform), very good support, various forms of assessment, guest lectures.

There are close ERASMUS partnerships with European and East-European partner universities. Students taking the Bachelor’s or Master’s in Business Information Systems thus have the option to complete a semester abroad in the 5th and/or 3rd semester and are supported by the university in planning and organising this. In addition, students benefit from English-taught courses and language courses (e.g. Chinese, Arabic, French) at our university. Students have the opportunity to take part in exchange programmes at any point in the semester.

With our projects and transfer activities, we are represented on the Research Map of the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK). In the focus area "digital transformation", the processes and modes of action of digital technologies, management approaches and business models are explored. The focus area "interdisciplinary security research" addresses such topics as data protection, IT security, reliability of systems and processes, as well as security aspects of medicine, aviation, microelectronics and technical equipment. In 2021, the Business Informatics Group contributed approximately 50% of all the university's third-party funding.

Integration of two modules on start-ups in the Bachelor´s degree course in Business Informatics as well as start-up coaching as part of the project study from the 1st semester. Close cooperation on individual measures with the Centre for Start-Ups and Transfer.
