Special features regarding the international orientation

Two semesters abroad (work placement/study) with a choice of regional focus (China/Hispanic world/Francophone world) in the International Business & International Business Management degree courses. Country excursions. Double degrees. 4 degree courses are taught 100% in English. Transcultural Caravan Network with 7 universities from Africa, Asia, Europe and South America with hybrid winter school and annual hybrid conference. Erasmus: Hybrid WPF, for example with Universidad de Castilla La-Mancha in Toledo. Business simulation games with a partner university in Malaga in person or hybrid. Research project "Transcultural Competence" in cooperation with researchers of the Leadership Excellence Institute of Zeppelin University. Research with regional companies, several projects funded by industry, e.g. with Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus, Bad Dürrheimer Mineralbrunnen GmbH + Co. KG Heilbrunnen, macs Software GmbH; Reconstruction of a neuroeconomics lab. Project lean&digital on digital transformation in manufacturing companies. Research and transfer activities concerning the topic of start-ups. Economic policy research on monetary regimes.

Support for founders

Regular open start-up consultation hours to advise university members interested in setting up a business; Organisation of regional networking and pitch events; Two kick-start funding rounds annually (maximum 7,500 euros per project for 6 months) to promote student start-up ideas. The "Innovation Lab Schwarzwald" is an external, free service for start-up support available to students as an elective worth 3 ECTS. One of the university's Start-up Officers is a member of the faculty. Courses: Innovation management, business plans, business simulation games.

Other special features

HFU Business School has been committed to the United Nations' "UN Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME)" since 2019. There are modules on Sustainability & Business Ethics in all degree courses. Studium Generale as a compulsory elective subject with experts on current developments. Open door policy. Regular international cultural evenings and student projects. EMBA: Two modules abroad. Support e.g. HFU scholarship "Staying abroad with your child", DAAD award for foreign students, Germany Scholarship.
