Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The bachelor's degree programme offers a wide range of basic and advanced seminars. For example, seminar lecturers regularly offer practical events (e.g. the MUN seminar and "Journalism for Political Scientists") as well as research seminars (e.g. participation at academic conferences). Students also benefit from an associated professorship at the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (ABI), a renowned research institute in the areas of comparative area studies and transregional studies.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The Master's degree programme combines various advanced and master's seminars with in-depth methodological training. The methodological foundations are laid in the first semester and then strengthened through qualitative or quantitative practice before being applied in a research project with mentoring in the advanced and master's seminars and, finally, in the Master's thesis.

Special features regarding the international orientation

In addition to the Franco-German cooperation courses in applied political science, the international orientation of the Seminar for Scientific Policy is characterised in particular by two cooperation programmes: 1. EUCOR: Through EUCOR, our students can attend events at the universities in Basel, Karlsruhe, Mulhouse and Strasbourg and supplement their Freiburg curriculum. 2. ERASMUS: With over 40 cooperation agreements throughout Europe (and on Martinique & Guadeloupe), we have a diverse range of Erasmus placement opportunities at renowned universities.
