Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The BA in political science provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the individual areas of political science. After completing introductory modules that build foundational knowledge, students take more advanced modules that provides more in-depth information during the second phase that allows them to focus on a specific subject. Students study in a major /minor subject model. Social science subjects (e.g. economics or sociology), public law or various languages can be chosen as minor subjects. Other minor subjects are also available.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The MA in International Economics & Public Policy looks for opportunities for effective and legitimate governance and economic activities in the 21st century. The MA in Democratic Politics and Communication focuses on the functioning and democratic quality of the political public sphere and participation. The MA in European & East Asian Governance focuses on issues of European and East Asian policy as well as intergovernmental cooperation. The MA in International Relations & Diplomacy deals with interdisciplinary structures, actors, and problems of international and global politics.

Special features regarding the international orientation

As part of the "EurIdentity Certificate" Erasmus+ project, the faculty was responsible for the development of a Europe-related additional certificate in cross-border cooperation with the member universities of the University of the Greater Region at the University of Trier. This was first implemented in summer semester 2023. The EEAG and EPP Master's degree programmes are embedded in the Jean Monnet network and in the cooperations of the universities of the greater Saar-Lor-Lux region.
