Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Teaching basic and in-depth expertise in political science, sociology, empirical social research methods, statistics, statistics software; High value is placed on teaching skills for theory-based and problem-oriented empirical research, application-focused learning; In addition to lectures, numerous interactive seminars and exercises, with some seminars being thematic options within modules; Inclusion of a compulsory internship of at least six weeks, including reflection on the seminar and a practical social sciences module.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Institute of Social Sciences, together with Sciences Po Bordeaux, has been offering the German-French BA/MA degree course in social sciences for over 20 years, which is completed with a double master's degree from both universities. Students spend two to three of their five academic years in Bordeaux, the others in Stuttgart. The Institute of Social Sciences maintains various Erasmus+ cooperations with universities in northern, southern and eastern Europe. Most study achievements gained abroad are recognized.
