Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

In Mannheim's political science programme, students are taught by internationally renowned researchers and benefit from a very good tutor-student ratio. Mannheim stands out for the high quality of its internationally focused research infrastructure and its excellent study environment. Seminars are conducted in small groups and there are accompanying tutorials to help students deepen their knowledge. Students also receive excellent training in the quantitative methods of social research and are counselled by professional student services.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

In the research-oriented MA in political science, students are taught exclusively in English by internationally renowned researchers and benefit from a very good tutor-student ratio. Mannheim stands out for the high quality of its internationally focused research infrastructure and its excellent study environment. The two-year degree course is a Master's programme that allows students to develop their methodological skills in data analysis and prepares them for the doctoral programme in a structured manner.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Political Science department in Mannheim has a strong international orientation (including semester periods). The University of Mannheim is technologically very well equipped. In the area of e-learning, an extensive online platform is used and teaching is offered in digitally supported formats. A video conferencing tool is available for students to engage in dialogue. A computer pool with over 50 workstations with the necessary software (such as statistics programmes) can be used into the evening hours free of charge. Databases for statistical evaluations are maintained and built up at the associated research institutions, such as the MZES.
