Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Starting in the fourth semester, BA students can choose from among 40-50 specialisation seminars per study semester (max. 20 participants). This ensures that students are able to develop their profiles during their bachelor's degree studies. A large number of seminars are offered in English. The BA programme includes numerous research seminars. In addition to the seminars, there is also a comprehensive range of courses and counselling services in connection with methodology. Guest lecturers from international partner universities. Continuing education and improvement of teaching through guided roundtables with lecturers and a "Day of Teaching".

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Courses in the MA programme are taught almost exclusively in English. There is an extensive range of courses on offer. The examination regulations provide a great deal of flexibility in terms of profile development. In addition to a comprehensive range of seminars, students can also complete courses at a partner university. The principle of "teaching based on research" is bolstered through very close cooperation with the cluster "The Politics of Inequality". In addition to teaching, many students work as research assistants on (cluster) research projects.

Special features regarding the international orientation

BA programme: Obligatory international mobility: External work placement or study exchange: Quasi mobility window with simple recognition of credits, over 90 Erasmus partner universities. Increasing proportion of courses taught in English during the course of the study programme. The full-time Master's degree programme: Internationality as a trademark: High proportion of teaching in English, very international student group, high proportion of students (approx. 80%) spend one or two semesters abroad (8 double degree partners, 40 Erasmus partners). Exchange at the doctoral level with renowned North American universities.
