Annotation
Students who have the aim of attaining the teaching qualification for vocational schools complete their studies in a tiered course structure. Firstly, the Bachelor's degree course in Vocational Education at Osnabrück University in cooperation with Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences must be completed, or evidence provided of an equivalent academic degree obtained at another university in the equivalent or closely related subject with a corresponding teacher-training specialisation and the vocational specialisation in Metals Technology. The Master's degree course "Teaching Qualification for Vocational Schools" specialising in Metals Technology, which is oriented towards the professional field of schools, builds onto this course. For the Master's course, an application and proof of practical professional experience amounting to 52 weeks (whereby 26 weeks can be completed by the end of the Master's degree course) is required in any case. Applications for the Master's degree course "Teaching Qualification for Vocational Schools" are submitted to Osnabrück University. A Master's degree is the prerequisite for admission to postgraduate civil service. In the Teaching Qualification degree course, Metals Technology is studied in combination with the teaching subject already selected in the Bachelor's degree course. As part of the Master's supplementary course "Complementary Subject for the Teaching Qualification for Vocational Schools", a further teaching subject can be studied. This can generally be German, English, Protestant Religion, Computer Science, Islamic Religion, Catholic Religion, Mathematics, Physics or Sports. If the chosen subject is English, during registration for the degree examination, proof of a three-month course-relevant stay abroad in a country in which English is the official language must be provided. In addition to the specialisation in Metals Technology and the teaching subject, the study of Vocational and Business Education is mandatory, where skills in the field of vocational education are taught. The didactics of vocational teaching and learning is also a component. Preparatory and follow-up placements at vocational schools must be completed within the scope of the special in-school practical studies and in subject-related internships. The Master's thesis can be written in the professional subject area, in the teaching subject or in vocational and economics education.
