Annotation

Minor subject in the combination Bachelor's degree course - only possible in combination with a major subject Standard period of study: 6 or 8 semesters (depending on combination) The degree depends on the major subject chosen. Further information on the structure of the combination Bachelor's degree course can be found here:https://www.uni-marburg.de/de/studium/studieninteressierte/studienmoeglichkeiten/kombibachelor In the minor subject sub-course "Indology" you study the Indian cultural area, which extends beyond the geographical area of the Indian subcontinent (South Asia). One central aspect of the Indology course is the approach of using the original languages of the sources. In the minor subject, you will learn Sanskrit in particular as the most important ancient language and can either deepen this knowledge, combine it with another language (for example Hindi, Sanskrit with Tibetan or – unique in Europe – with Classical Newar) or acquire knowledge of cultural history. In Indology, the philological approach means that work is always carried out with primary texts. A very good sense of language is therefore indispensable. An integral part of the degree course is the MarSkills programme, in which you acquire attractive and future-oriented key skills (see https://www.uni-marburg.de/de/fb09/igs/arbeitsgruppen/sprechwissenschaft/marskills/was-ist-marskills).
