Annotation
The degree programme is a prerequisite for admission to the state licensure examination, which, upon successful completion, results in the issuance of a license to practice psychotherapy. This license entitles the holder to practice medicine in the field of psychotherapy. The Master's degree programme in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy teaches the knowledge content according to PsychThApprO in compulsory modules, including content in the field of evaluation and research methodology as well as psychological assessment. In addition, knowledge and skills are taught in selected basic subject areas. However, the Master's programme focuses on knowledge and skills in the field of mental disorders across all age ranges and their psychotherapeutic treatment. Practical assignments in psychotherapeutic institutions also enable application of the acquired knowledge and teach additional practical skills. In accordance with the specific training objectives under PsychThG §7, the knowledge and skilled required for independent, autonomous and comprehensive psychotherapeutic care of patients of all ages and taking into account the needs of people with disabilities are taught using scientifically recognised psychotherapeutic procedures and methods. At the same time, it enables graduates to contribute to the further development of psychotherapeutic procedures or psychotherapeutic methods, as well as continue their education and training independently and on their own responsibility, while also developing organisational and leadership skills on the basis of knowledge of psychotherapeutic care systems.

Admission requirements
- Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree course lasting at least three years at a university in the subject of Psychology. The Bachelor´s academic degree must have been completed in accordance with Section 9 of the law on the profession of psychotherapist (PsychThG) at universities or universities of applied sciences that are equivalent to universities, and the body responsible under state law must have determined compliance with the professional requirements for the underlying degree course in accordance with Section 9 (4) PsychThG. Proof of the professional recognition of the completed Bachelor's degree programme must be provided on the certificate or Diploma supplement, the transcript of records or a separate certificate.
