The course is aimed at graduates with a first professional degree in Degree courses in the field of the Natural and Engineering sciences of Physics, Optics, Photonics, Chemistry or one that is equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in the amount of 180 credits and subject-related study at a university or equivalent higher education institution in Germany or abroad.

Admission requirements

For this Master's degree programme you need a subject-specific Bachelor's degree (at least 6 semesters or 180 ECTS) or an equivalent certificate of academic degree as well as a particular aptitude. This is the case if the average minimum grade for the following examination results is 2.0: At least 12 credit points in mathematics (in particular analysis, linear algebra, numerics) or proof of equivalent qualifications on the basis of relevant activities already completed and experience gained. At least 8 credit points in the theory of electromagnetic waves (in particular electrodynamics, optics) or proof of equivalent qualifications on the basis of relevant activities already completed and experience gained. Furthermore, English language skills at level B2 according to CEFR must be proven.
