Annotation

Decorating yourself is an original need of the human being. The longing for identity, self-worth and a certain belonging are components of human existence. With the wearing of an object on the body, it becomes a catalyst, which makes it possible for us to gain a different consciousness. We communicate an attitude, feel more comfortable in everyday life. Whether explicit or implicit – the human form is the domain of jewellery designers. Jewellery almost always interacts directly with the skin, and can become an integral part of our body. In this context, the design-sensitive use of material and form creates an understanding for the individual in dialogue with the surrounding society. A piece of jewellery can be valuable from a craftsmanship, material, artistic or content perspective. Objects in the near body-related environment of humans also have asimilar effect or task. From the mundane charity to the component of personal and public rituals – everyday objects reflect social values and visions. Human needs and desires and the handling of them are recorded as material, usable objects that provide new approaches in the interplay of craft and technology. Prof. Christine Lüdeke: "To deal with jewellery and objects means to engage in a constant process of exploration and discovery in which traditional ideas, expectations and investigations are loosened, the unknown, ambiguous and enigmatic are admitted, joke and paradoxes are formulated, the ability to observe and attention are sharpened, astuteness and the presence of the mind are released."
