Target group

University graduates of all disciplines who want to work in the Media. The Master's programme in Journalism offers scientifically sound and practice-oriented training for a professional career in journalism in all media. The course lasts four semesters, it corresponds to the ECTS credit point system and is completed with the academic degree of a Master of Arts. The basic goal is to train 'generalists' in the various media. Intensive contacts with external facilities ensure close practice orientation. Vocational field-related internships and editorial offices, reflection on methods and Media Science courses are integral parts of the application and science-oriented course.

Annotation

Applications are made via the Admission Office of the University Mainz\; A separate registration for the aptitude test is not required. If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be proven: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education institution, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).

Admission requirements

1. Admission requirement for the Master's course in Journalism is proof of a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree at a German or international university. 2. Successfully passing an aptitude test 3. A further requirement for admission to the Master's course in Journalism is that the applicant still has the examination entitlement for this course. 4. Applicants for the course who obtained neither their higher education entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution nor a degree in a course conducted in German must provide proof of command of German at the level of the ‘German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education (DSH)’.
