Target group

The aim of the degree in Digital Methodology in the Humanities and Cultural Sciences is to use innovative digital methods to solve problems in the Humanities and Cultural Studies. Graduates can assess the effectiveness of the methodology and guide its needs-based further development. The course is designed at the interface between Applied Computer Science and the Humanities and Cultural studies and opens up research problems along the digital methodology instead of within the disciplines. Students of the Mainz degree program therefore get a broad insight into the different areas of digital humanities. According to your own interests, you choose from a wide range of digital methods in the four knowledge domains text and language, objects with spatial relevance as well as music and media informatics. Graduates of the degree program have a wide range of professional perspectives, particularly in the following areas: Research at universities and non-university scientific institutions, assessments for science sponsors, implementation of new forms of publication and editing in publishers and media companies as well as modelling of humanities content in software development (language processing, serious games etc.).
