At JGU, the core subject “African Languages, Media and Communication”cannot be combined with the minor subject “Linguistics / Elective Language African Studies”.
Admission requirements
This is a cooperative degree course with the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main (GU). Depending on the subject combination, the application is made either at the JGU or the GU: African Languages, Media and Communication is the core subject/major: You apply to the university from which you choose the minor/subject. African Languages, Media and Communication is the minor/minor: You apply to the university from which you choose the core subject/major. Admission and enrolment take place at the university to which you have to apply, according to the deadlines and conditions applicable there.

Those who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification abroad should have their certificates recognised early on via the Student Services (https://www.studium.uni-mainz.de/anerkennung/). The application should be submitted six to eight weeks before the respective application deadline, as the certificate of recognition must be attached to the application. Application deadline for degree courses subject to an aptitude test is 15.07. – please note the possibly earlier registration deadlines for the aptitude test.
