Graduates of the degree course have a broad biology-relevant knowledge of mathematics and natural science. They will have in-depth knowledge of the basics of molecular, cell and organismic biology and will be able to analyse and explain questions of life sciences in a way that is oriented towards methodological fundamentals, as well as to develop, demonstrate and critically reflect on solutions. They are familiar with modern apparatus-based laboratory methods in the field of life sciences and can investigate tasks in the life sciences at the molecular level. They are able to combine professional and interdisciplinary scientific thinking with practical implementation in research and development labs, production-accompanying analytics labs and quality assurance labs and are familiar with the legal foundations of their field of work and operational processes of an industrial company. They can clearly and appropriately document and present questions and solutions to problems in German and English, taking into account international research results. They have acquired the ability and willingness to communicate and collaborate in national and international teams and can represent the content and problems of the life sciences in dialogue with experts and laypeople in German and English.
