Target group

Graduates with proof of completion of a professionally relevant Bachelor's degree course in the field of Empirical Cultural Studies, European Ethnology, Cultural Anthropology, Folklore or another discipline related to cultural research or with proof of a comparable domestic or foreign, professionally qualifying certificate of academic degree. Relevance exists if relevant modules from the fields of Empirical Cultural Studies, European Ethnology, Cultural Anthropology, Folklore or another discipline related to cultural research in the amount of at least 48 credit points have been completed during the degree course. A degree course in a relevant subject is already available with a relevant minor subject degree course with at least 48 credit points.

Annotation

General information: The Master's degree programme in "Empirical Cultural Studies "deals with cultural phenomena of modern societies in a historical as well as contemporary perspective in a European context. The focus is on forms of everyday life and cultural identity constructions. The degree programme is research-oriented and imparts knowledge of ethnological or cultural science theories and hermeneutic-empirical methods for the investigation of socio-cultural phenomena and processes. During your you will acquire subject-specific knowledge and, above all, skills in cultural studies working techniques and research strategies that will enable you to conduct independent empirical research and to communicate this research in cultural work, media and exhibitions. Research focuses: In addition to in-depth knowledge in selected sub-areas and research foci of empirical cultural studies, interdisciplinary skills are also taught. Profile modules can be freely selected according to the focus of the content (e.g. language courses, modules from sociology, political science, cultural and social anthropology, religious studies).
