Target group
The course aims to train church musicians with a Master’s degree in Church Music, who are eligible for positions with an outstanding profile in the Catholic or Protestant Church. Graduates of the course are expected to have a significantly more developed artistic personality in all four main fields of activity compared to Bachelor’s graduates: they must meet high standards in choral and orchestral conducting as well as in organ repertoire and liturgical organ play / improvisation. Depending on the profile, particular areas of specialisation will arise. In addition to these tasks which are directly related to liturgical activities, graduates of the Master’s degree programme will be prepared for inter-communal tasks within the context of church education and continuing education, as well as in the artistic and organisational field.
Annotation
Applications are made via the Admission Office of the University Mainz. Registration for the aptitude test is via the University of Music. If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be demonstrated: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).
