Annotation

With the Master's degree programme in Clinical Linguistics, you qualify for a Bachelor's degree in linguistics (e.g. B.A. Language and Communication in Marburg) as academic speech therapists. The guiding principle is a close connection between linguistic theory, psycholinguistic research and language therapy practice. You will acquire up-to-date knowledge about various forms of speech and language disorders and learn how to apply this knowledge in practice in your future professional field. The degree programme offers the opportunity to work in a speech therapy profession and to obtain approval from health insurance companies for relevant fields of indication. The practical teaching of clinical skills is therefore a central component of the programme. Research focuses: - Principles of clinical linguistic - Disturbance-specific competences - Practical Speech Therapy - Methodological consolidation The degree programme is interdisciplinary in the sense that practically relevant subjects such as diagnostics and therapy of speech and language disorders in children and adults are combined with theoretical foundations in linguistics, medicine, speech science, phonetics, statistics, psychology and education. As clinical linguists, you are academically trained speech therapists specialising in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and counselling of developmental and acquired disorders of speech, language and swallowing. After successful completion of your studies, a therapeutic or management position in the following institutions is possible for you: - in speech therapy practices employed or in own branch office (prerequisite: Health insurance fund admission) - in clinical facilities (acute clinics, rehabilitation clinics, geriatric clinics) - in public institutions and independent associations (e.g. in counselling centres, early intervention centres) - in speech therapy kindergartens, day-care centres and similar special educational establishments - in local or regional outpatient centres
