Your primary language is Russian, Polish or Czech. In addition to these, you can choose the secondary language from Bosnian / Croatian / Serbian and Slovenian. If you choose the specialisation German-Polish Transcultural Studies, you do not need a secondary language\; however, you will study Polish more intensively, with a compulsory semester in Warsaw. If you choose the specialisation Slavic Literature and Civilisation Studies, you will be taking specialisation modules consisting of an advanced seminar and a lecture focusing on a selected literary or cultural theory, an epoch, an author or a genre. In the specialisation Slavic Linguistics, you will examine, among other things, a section of grammar, a topic of pragmatics and text linguistics and a diachronic phenomenon. In addition to this, there will be further modules in both specialisations on different topics as well as a free module, which can be chosen from other disciplines (e.g. International Literatures, General Linguistics, History, Media Studies or Political Science). The specialisation German-Polish Transcultural Studies comprises courses on linguistics, Polish literature and cultural studies, cross-cultural communication, translation studies and practice as well as literary criticism, with the courses of the third semester being taken during the compulsory semester in Warsaw.
