Target group

The Master's course in 'Cross-Cultural Romance Studies' covers complex linguistic and literary academic material and processes from areas of Romance culture, particularly from a cross-cultural perspective. The delivery of the course contents is aimed at developing skills in linguistics, media and teaching. The components covering cultural studies ensure that the link between linguistic phenomena and texts and the respective historical and communicative connections are constantly referred to in this process. In the Master's degree course 'Cross-Cultural Romance Studies' at the JGU, students can choose between the specialisation areas of Literature and Linguistics in a Romance subject (French, Spanish or Italian), each from a cross-cultural perspective, with inter-disciplinary, partially media-oriented modules. Knowledge already acquired in a core Romance subject are expanded on, while practical skills from the field of culture and language teaching are consolidated. The degree course also aims to convey specialist knowledge and methodological skills in an additional Romance language or in Romance literature as well as enabling access to current research in Romance Studies.
