The research-oriented single-subject Master requires historical competences. Students deal with historical topics from the fields of politics, society, media, culture, the constitution and the economy. The curriculum covers all historical periods. Regional specialisations include the areas Regional History, Western and Eastern European History as well as the History of North America and the Mediterranean Region.

Admission requirements

Admission requirement is a degree in History or a History-oriented course or discipline in which at least 55 credit points were achieved in History modules of these, the student must have dedicated at least 1 foundation module and 1 specialisation module to a topic relating to the pre-1750 period and 1 foundation module and one specialisation module to a topic relating to the post-1750 period. For applicants who have completed inter-disciplinary courses of study, a review of whether adequate specialised competence has been achieved is conducted. Any knowledge lacking may be gained after commencing the course of study if necessary. Language requirements for the Master's course in History (120 CPs): Proof of adequate command of English and command of Latin corresponding to the Latinum (Latin language examination) or the Latin II course at JLU. Specific language requirements may be defined for individual modules.
