Annotation
The study of the subject Ethics in the Teaching Qualification for Grammar Schools degree course is oriented towards the practical requirements of ethics teaching at grammar schools. The programme will impart the necessary subject-specific and didactic basics necessary for the practice of the teaching profession at grammar schools and allow for first experiences in school teaching practice under academic guidance. Students are to be qualified on the basis of the acquired competences, i.e., knowledge, qualifications and attitudes, for academic work and socially responsible practice of the teaching profession. University education is intended to provide future teachers with professional qualifications to analyse, plan, design and reflect on pedagogical processes in ethics lessons at school. Students receive a systematic overview of the various ethical positions in the tradition, with special emphasis on the Kantian philosophy and the philosophy of the Enlightenment. An introduction to ethics-related sciences, such as sociology, political science, religious studies and theology, is also provided. Furthermore, students are given the opportunity to specialise in one subject area. They can benefit from events that address ethical issues relevant in the context of existing research contexts. A further focus of Ethics is the in the area of subject-specific didactics, which in Marburg is oriented towards the leading discipline of Philosophy. It seeks to engage with the teaching methodologies of related subjects (e.g. politics and economics, religion) and aims to contribute to the preparation of students for their future professional life through cooperation with schools.
