Annotation

The Bachelor’s programme Transdisciplinary Early Childhood Education trains students to be specialists in early childhood development and intervention from birth. In Germany, as well as internationally, early intervention has been a highly specialised field of work for many decades, in which pedagogical experts work closely together with professionals in the health professions. Tasks include developmental diagnostics, therapy and promotion of infants, toddlers and preschool children who have difficulties in development. Such difficulties can arise, for example, from illnesses, difficult living conditions or disabilities. About five per cent of a birth year in Germany require early intervention. The need for early aid is still significantly higher. Families are supported in Germany, where the development of the child is considered risky. Educational Early Childhood Specialists work closely with Youth Welfare Offices to prevent risks to children’s welfare, stabilise family systems and provide support to families.
