Annotation

The study of the subject Politics and Economy in the Teacher qualification degree at the level of grammar schools is oriented towards the requirements of the practice of politics and economics teaching at grammar schools. The programme will impart the necessary subject-specific and didactic basics necessary for the practice of the teaching profession at grammar schools and allow for first experiences in school teaching practice under academic guidance. Students are to be qualified on the basis of the acquired competences, i.e., knowledge, qualifications and attitudes, for academic work and socially responsible practice of the teaching profession. The university education imparts basic contents of political science and should qualify future teachers professionally to analyse, plan, design and reflect education processes in the teaching of politics and economics at school. Research focuses The subject Politics and Economics takes into account the core areas of political science such as Political Theory, Political System of the Federal Republic of Germany, Politics and Gender Relations and International Politics as well as Political Didactics and allows for an extension by specific aspects such as Peace and Conflict Studies, European Integration or Political Socialisation. Political education and learning about democracy are particular focal points.
