Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in the same or a similar subject area. The faculties administer an aptitude test on the basis of the application documents (transcripts of the previous degree). Proof of German or English, according to the teaching language of the course.

There are no tuition fees at TU Ilmenau. All students pay a semester contribution. The semester contribution at TU Ilmenau includes fees for the Student Union (social service), the Student Council (student advocacy) and the Germany ticket for students (use of public regional railways and public urban transport throughout Germany).
