Annotation
Due to increasing life expectancy, growing health awareness and technical innovations, medical technology is one of the key technologies in Germany. As an application of engineering in the field of medicine, it has become indispensable in many medical fields: For example, it plays a role in diagnosis in the derivation of biosignals (e.g. ECG), in imaging procedures (e.g. X-ray or ultrasound examinations) and in the determination of lung parameters or blood tests. It is also used in therapy, for example, for pacemakers, artificial kidneys and ventilators. In the digital age, the processing of patient data as well as signal analysis and image processing using various software is essential. Medical technicians are involved in the development, operation and maintenance of a wide variety of devices and systems. This degree course is also possible in the form of a "degree course with an in-depth practical component". More information is available here: https://www.eah-jena.de/vertiefende-praxis Are you still undecided about your choice of degree programme? Admission requirements
Entrance qualification for general OR subject-restricted higher education OR higher education at a university of applied sciences By the third subject-related semester, an 8-week pre-study internship is required. Vocational training in a profession related to the degree programme is recognised as equivalent to a pre-study internship. Prospective students should have a strong interest in scientific subjects, especially biology and physics, as well as a high degree of enthusiasm for technical issues. The choice of a science profile in the baccalaureate level is recommended. A positive attitude towards numbers and equations is essential for understanding, especially the engineering aspects of the course.
