Annotation

The Bachelor's degree course in Civil Engineering provides you with a comprehensive insight into the subject areas of building and construction. The focus of the degree course is on the solid and practice-oriented teaching of the basic skills of planning, surveying and building. In addition to specialist knowledge, you will acquire extensive methodological knowledge and train your leadership qualities and social competencies. In the undergraduate course, the main focus is on imparting basic building management and technical knowledge; Building on this, in the main study stage you will acquire subject-specific knowledge in the areas of structural analysis, solid, steel and timber construction, geoengineering, construction management, traffic management and water management. The compulsory practical semester, usually in the fifth semester, involves a 20-week placement in a construction company or engineering firm, applying the knowledge you have acquired in practice.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements: Higher education entrance qualification valid for Hesse. The degree course is subject to admission restrictions; the allocation of study places is carried out in a local admission restriction procedure. A self-organised, trade-related pre-study work placement of 12 weeks is required for the course of study. It is recommended to complete this work placement before commencement of studies in order to become familiar with the civil engineering professional environment at an early stage.
