The 'Expressive Arts in Social Transformation (EAST)' degree is an undergraduate, professional degree course and also provides entry to the Intermediate Art Therapy, Art Analogue Coaching and Social Work Master’s degrees. This degree is only as full-time. Visual Arts, Music, Poetry, and Performance Art. The EAST bachelor's degree may be studied with the major subjects Visual Arts, Music, Poetry, or Performance Art concentrations. The focus modules are under the theme of 'Art in Context' and run throughout the degree course. In the first semester, the various artistic disciplines are introduced as part of the orientation studies; the choice of an artistic focus is then made for the second semester. The course teaches the ability to use the artistic disciplines as experimental spaces for artistic questions and to accompany social and societal change processes with artistic means. Art in Social Space. The degree course offers a well-rounded artistic education, experiential learning, and practice-based work. During their studies, students get to know possible fields of work in the practice-related modules and implement their own artistic-social projects in selected fields of work. This gives students the opportunity to deal with different target groups, fields of application and the requirements of the world of work. They have a repertoire of actions at their disposal, but also project-based, experimental methods, in order to be able to implement projects of great topicality that are limited in time and subject matter.
Admission requirements
The courses at the MSH Medical School Hamburg are not admission-restricted: talent, motivation and discipline count more than the grade point average on the certificate. Punctuality, good performance and commitment during the studies are of great importance. - General higher education entrance qualification, subject-linked higher education entrance qualification or entrance qualification for studies at universities of applied sciences according to Art. 37 HmbH - University admission for employed persons according to Art. 38 HmbHG via aptitude test (according to the aptitude test regulations). - Artistic aptitude, depending on previous artistic experience - The following criteria are also taken into account in the selection decision: motivation to study, professional perspectives, personal aptitude, further and continuing education.
Tuition fee
One-time enrolment fee of EUR 100. There are many different types of student funding available, such as Bafög (state financial support), KfW study credit and DKB (German bank) academic loans, assistance for particularly gifted students, student education funds and grants.
