Combined Bachelor’s degree with choice of minor subject. See the link on the degree course page for the list of optional minor subjects. In the Bachelor's degree course in History (main subject) you will gain an overview of all epochs of European and non-European history. In the introductory modules you will deal with central topics and approaches to the history of antiquity, the Middle Ages and the modern era. You learn to differentiate, analyse and critically evaluate the most important types of sources. In the in-depth modules, you will intensify the knowledge gained in the introductory modules on European and non-European topics. You can specialise your personal interests by choosing from a wide range of events. Throughout the Bachelor's degree course you will also acquire a wide range of methodological skills that will qualify you for various professional fields, such as personnel management and adult education, journalism or museums, as well as for working in an archive, an educational institution or on archaeological sites. The six- to eight-semester Bachelor's degree in History in the city of Kassel, rich in museums, also offers you the option of a particularly practical degree. The ability to work independently and the numerous other key skills such as teamwork and action-oriented thinking that you acquire during your studies and internship also qualify you for a successful career entry. Above all, the possibility of completing the work placement in Germany or abroad as part of the degree course enables you to gain an insight into the national and international world of work. In addition, you can study a part of your degree course at the cooperation universities of the Department of History abroad. Various scholarship formats such as ERASMUS provide financial support. You will complete your Bachelor's degree with a Bachelor's thesis on a topic of your choice. History in the minor subject always includes selected modules that are based on the Bachelor's degree course in the main subject. In the introductory modules you will deal with central topics and approaches to the history of antiquity, the Middle Ages and the modern era. You will be taught basic skills and standards. In the "Europe and Outside Europe" module, you will specialise your knowledge of selected topics in this spatial history, which you will gain from an intensive examination of sources and research literature. Part-time study is quite possible due to the course of study in this degree programme. Upon request, you can register for part-time studies in accordance with Section 19 (2) Hesse Higher Education Act (HessHG). The specific provisions for part-time studies will then apply. Counselling by the subject-specific student advice service is recommended.
