Annotation
The core part of the Bachelor's degree course in Islamic Theology is formed by all relevant scientific disciplines of Islam, the principles of faith, Koran studies and prophetic tradition as well as Islamic Law and its methodology. The focus is on theoretical and empirical analyses of Islam in Germany, as well as its reflection in the context of recognised theological scientific traditions. Therefore, in addition to the theology of Islam, religious and community education, comparative studies (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) and contemporary issues in Islamic research in Germany and Europe are also a central consideration. In addition to in-depth knowledge of all Islamic-theological sub-disciplines and of classical Arabic, the study programme places great value on inter-religious skills and interdisciplinarity. During the course of study, a two to four-week work placement must be completed. Various institutions of Muslim life in Germany lend themselves to this. The professionally qualifying degree offers career prospects as a specialist for areas working in theological, religious and community-based education as well as pastoral work in mosque communities, for example. It qualifies students for admission to a subject-related Master's degree course\; at the Universität Osnabrück for the Master's degree course in Islamic Theology, which has been created at the Universität Osnabrück for the winter semester 2015/2016.
