Biomedical Engineering is at the interface between engineering sciences and medicine. Its aim is the research and development of devices, processes and systems for the early detection, diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of diseases. This ranges from tiny implants and pacemakers to heart pacemakers and heart-lung machines and room-filling computer tomography systems.
