Annotation

The following foreign language skills are recommended when selecting the relevant languages: English: language skills totalling 7- 9 years; French: language skills totalling approx. 5-7 years; Spanish: Language skills recommended, but not required. If you want to study languages, but do not necessarily aspire to a teaching profession, then the Bachelor's degree course in Language and Communication is of interest for you. The degree course provides a solid linguistic basis; depending on the study model, you have the option of choosing one or two linguistic focuses (German, English, French, Spanish). The degree course is also interdisciplinary: On the one hand, German Studies, English Studies/American Studies and Romance Studies work closely together here. On the other hand, the study of language and individual languages not only focuses on their forms and structure, but also on cross-linguistic communicative practices and knowledge structures and thus on the functions of language as a medium at the intersection of the individual, interaction, society and culture. The entire degree course is designed so that you acquire specialist knowledge and methodological skills that can be used in professional practice. In practical language studies, you will acquire or deepen your knowledge of the chosen focus language(s) through grammar, text production, translation and conversation exercises.
